Meet the Board of Directors

Gold Rush Cure has a working board dedicated to growing our ability to serve the kids fighting cancer. Our Board of Directors has helped Gold Rush Cure expand from just 20 Pot of Gold deliveries to over 240 in two years.

Our Board of Directors are compassionate advocates for kids battling cancer and seek to do everything possible to be a voice for those fighting.

SANDY BARKER

CO-FOUNDER/BOARD CHAIR

Sandy Barker serves as the President and Co-Founder of Gold Rush Cure Foundation on a volunteer basis. She is a dental hygienist in Dana Point. Sandy and her husband Gary live in Laguna Niguel, California and have three children: Garrett (22), Kendall (19), and Christian (forever 14-1/2). Sandy has now made 20 trips to DC since Christian passed almost 10 years ago, and is honored to be a voice for children with cancer. Sandy also mentors and educates numerous families who are faced with having a child diagnosed with cancer. In her free time, Sandy loves going to baseball games, working out, traveling, and fun activities with family.

GARY BARKER

CO-FOUNDER/BOARD MEMBER

Gary Barker serves as the Vice President and Co-Founder of Gold Rush Cure Foundation on a volunteer basis. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and currently works at Northrop Grumman. Gary and his wife, Sandy, have been married for 28 years and they have three children. He has made several trips to Washington, D.C. to advocate for the childhood cancer cause. Gary currently lives in Laguna Niguel, California with his wife Sandy and enjoys baseball, trivia, working out, and getting together with friends and family.

JEREMY BLILER

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Jeremy Bliler first volunteered in the oncology unit of Colorado Children’s Hospital and continued as a volunteer at Rady Children’s Hospital, and now at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Being closest to lymphoma patient Amanda Peebles who became an Angel in 2010, he made it his mission to help these patients. He assists Gold Rush Cure with their expansion and is now the chapter leader in Arizona. Jeremy runs Insightrise, a training development consulting firm out of Arizona. He’s made several advocacy trips to Washington, D.C. on behalf of children fighting cancer.

LYNN TADLOCK

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Lynn Tadlock serves as Treasurer and Financial Advisor on a volunteer basis. Spending her first 13 years in public accounting and the manufacturing industry, she had the opportunity to join a local non-profit. Since, she is a perfect fit for her love of finance and her passion for serving others. Her nonprofit service includes HomeAid America, Gold Rush, and other charities. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from California Baptist University. She has been married to her husband Chris for 26 years and currently resides in Newport Beach CA.

ALEX LUSTICK

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Alex Lustick brings a wealth of corporate strategy and nonprofit leadership experience to Gold Rush Cure. Alex manages technology procurement functions for Fortune 500 companies. His non-profit advisory expertise focuses on strategic planning, reorganization, succession planning, technology development and marketing strategy. Alex lives in Brooklyn, New York and likes to ski and be out in nature, play tennis, practice yoga, cook, and read.

LIZ DEVINS

Liz Devins has volunteered since 2015. She now manages the San Diego Chapter for the Pot of Gold Program. In 2006, Liz’s youngest daughter Claire was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive pediatric brain cancer at nearly two years old. Claire died as a result of her illness at the age of 6. As a fierce advocate for her daughter during her 4 1/2 years of treatment, Liz has continued to spread awareness about childhood cancer. Liz and her husband Joe have five children, Abby (21) Sean (19) Belle (17) Amelia (15) and Claire (forever 6-died 5-10-11) and live in Carlsbad, California.

DAVID HYSLOP

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

David Hyslop brings a wealth of healthcare and marketing experience to Gold Rush Cure, having worked directly with patient advocates on behalf of Fortune 500 Biotech and pharmaceutical companies. He was introduced to Gold Rush Cure by Sandy Barker while working for Gold Rush Nugget Bucket, as seen on ABC’s “Shark Tank.” David has been a featured alumnus for the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication and resides in Seattle. He has a passion for marketing and volunteering, and enjoys sports, comedy, and live music.

LORI HICKS

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Lori Hicks has been a dedicated volunteer since the inception of Gold Rush Cure. Sandy and Lori have been friends since attending UCLA’s Dental Hygiene Program. With a heart to serve, Lori volunteered in various organizations including PTSA and the Model United Nations Booster Board. She loves the outdoors, running, walking or biking along the beach with her husband David. Lori and David have 3 children and live in Huntington Beach, CA. They are expecting their first granddaughter in June 2018.

JAY ROJO

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Jay Rojo serves as the Volunteer Coordinator, Recording Secretary and is on the Gala Planning Committee. He has been with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 92 for the last 30 years and currently serves as their Business Representative. Jay has two children, Nicholas (13) and Riley (12). Nicholas suffers from Epilepsy since being diagnosed at the age of 3 and his sister Riley, is a Leukemia survivor since being diagnosed at the age of 4. Through this experience, Jay has a huge heart for children with special needs and those battling cancer. Jay’s hobbies include CrossFit, wine tasting, hiking, baseball and listening to audiobooks.

KELLI SEELY

Kelli Seely is Chief Marketing and Development Officer for Special Olympics International, Kelli oversees Special Olympics’ global campaigns, fundraising and engagement. Prior, Kelly served as President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation from 2004-2008. She has held senior positions at impactful nonprofit organizations and seeks to help Gold Rush Cure continue to exceed goals. Kelli has one daughter and currently resides in Washington, D.C. Kelli and Sandy have been best friends since the 9th grade and are committed together to helping kids fighting cancer.

Marci Padgett is honored to help volunteer for the Gold Rush Cure Foundation. In 2014 her son, David, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He spent 3 ½ years in treatment at CHOC and has been in remission for over a year. During that time, Marci and David were introduced to Sandy and the Gold Rush Cure Foundation. David was an honored hero at the GRCF Gala in 2017. Now, both mom and son, make helping other newly diagnosed patients cope with the new reality of their lives a priority. They lend an ear to families who need it, and David visits other patients when possible. Marci and her husband live in Fullerton, CA with David and their younger son, Josh. They enjoy traveling, watching their boys play baseball and appreciating the time they have with a healthy family.
