The New York City chapter of Gold Rush Cure Foundation opened in 2018 after a grant made it possible. We support Manhattan and New York City boroughs for the Pot of Gold program and fundraising. This includes supporting child life specialists and social workers in all pediatric oncology units.
Pot of Gold Program
We are operating the Pot of Gold program through your hospital. For requests please download our form here and submit to your child life specialist or social worker to submit to Gold Rush Cure Foundation.
New York City is looking for volunteers in and around NYC metro areas. We are also looking for volunteers who can drive between metro areas or reach delivery areas in more remote areas around New York City.
The New York City chapter is part of Gold Rush Cure Foundation but accepts donations to be applied here in NYC for children battling cancer. We accept donations individually, corporate donations, and grants.
Gabrielle Schaefer is a founding member of the NYC chapter of Gold Rush Cure. She was introduced to the organization through her aunt who is both a a longtime contributor to GRC as well as a close friend to Sandy Barker. Gabrielle grew up alongside childhood cancer as her best friend's sister battled a rare form of Leukemia for 17 years. With a personal connection to this cause, and as an older sister, Gabriele has volunteered with children throughout her life and is excited to ensure that the city she calls home is never too daunting to bring a smile to patients nearby. A true "New Yorker," Gabrielle has lived in the city for ten years and is a Business Director at an advertising agency.
NYC CHAPTER CO-LEADER
Brooke is one of the NYC Chapter Leads residing in Brooklyn, NY. Her passion for raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer patients started when she was a high school student volunteering at on the Oncology/Hematology Unit at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. After growing close to a young woman who lost her battle against cancer, her passion to make a difference for kids and their families kicked off! She received her degree from The Ohio State University and specialized in Non-Profit Management. Over the years Brooke has worked and volunteered for a variety of organizations that support pediatric cancer including Nellie's Champions for Kids, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, BuckeyeThon and more!
Supporting Children & Teens Fighting Cancer
We are answering the call to support children and teens fighting cancer in New York City and surrounding areas at all pediatric oncology clinics and in-patient centers. Our chapter has been operating since 2018 and has delivered Pots of Gold to patients in the area. Volunteers have been starting to fulfill hours by fundraising, preparing Pots of Gold and hosting delivery experiences for families. We are so thankful to all those who helped us start this chapter and to those who keep it growing.
