COVID-19 IMPACT UPDATE

Latest Update: May 25, 2020

No words can begin to speak to the setbacks our world has experienced over the last several months. At Gold Rush Cure Foundation, we feel the impact that COVID-19 has made on our ability to support the childhood cancer community. GRCF feels fortunate that we were able to bring joy to hundreds of children through our Pot of Gold program, and we look forward to spreading more cheer as we open up areas safely.

Our primary mission at Gold Rush Cure Foundation is to protect and advocate for the health and safety of children suffering from childhood cancer and their families. With consideration of how vulnerable our heroes are due to their immunodeficiencies, we wish to share an update on what we are doing to adjust while COVID-19 presents a threat to our world.

Children and their families:

  • All in-person Pot of Gold deliveries are on hold in States with stay at home orders.
  • Gold Rush Cure will typically be included in Phase 3 of states re-opening. Each case will be evaluated based on the current State guidelines and individual case status. Further, parents will need to work with their GRCF volunteer before a delivery can be setup to follow new GRCF guidelines.
  • Per the CDC guidelines, all volunteers and families will be asked to follow the recommendations of wearing masks, using hand sanitizer and respecting the 6’ distancing. All volunteers that will be around families and children must not have flown or been sick within the past two weeks.

Referring Hospitals:

  • While some deliveries remain on hold, we are currently accepting request forms sent to Gold Rush Cure Foundation. We want to avoid requests getting lost or forgotten. Please continue sending them to us through your normal communication channels, and let families know there will be a delay until it’s safe to resume.
  • All requests will be filed with us and we update the families regarding the timeframe as needed.

Volunteers & Supporters:

  • Although some of our Pot of Gold deliveries are on hold, our project operations are in full swing.
  • We have rolled out our new volunteer portal (login here or apply to volunteer). This is a great time to sign up, complete your training and keep in touch so that once deliveries resume we can coordinate with you.
  • In order to volunteer for in-person deliveries you must follow the new GRCF guidelines given the difficult situation we are facing with COVID. You will be advised and trained on these guidelines prior to any in-person deliveries.

We thank you for your continued support, and appreciate both your patience and efforts to make this unprecedented time as smooth as possible. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to your GRCF representative or submit a direct inquiry on our website (www.goldrushcure.org).
