about childhood cancer

47 Children Per Day are Diagnosed with Childhood Cancers

Every day, an alarming number of 47 children are diagnosed with childhood cancers. This staggering statistic highlights the urgent need for increased awareness, research, and support to combat these devastating diseases. Let's stand united in the fight against childhood cancers and work towards a future where no child has to face this battle.

  • The average age at diagnosis is 10 years old.
  • There are over 12 major types of childhood cancers.
  • About 1 in 257 children and adolescents (aged 0-19) will be diagnosed with cancer before age 20.
  • 95% of survivors will suffer a long-term side effect from their treatment
why we exist

Offering Hope and Encouragement

We believe in hope and encouragement for children in their battle against cancer. Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to provide tangible support and shine a light of hope for these brave young warriors and their families.

  • Fostering hope and offering encouragement can significantly enhance health outcomes.
  • Siblings are frequently overlooked, yet they are an integral part of Gold Rush Cure's programs.
  • Joy, hope, and encouragement supports emotional well-being and resilience.
why we advocate

Giving A Voice to
Our Young Heroes

Children deserve less toxic treatments, improved therapies, and ultimately, a cure for all childhood cancers. Amplifying the voices of our young heroes has always been a central mission for Gold Rush Cure. We remain steadfast in advocating for their cure to be a top priority in the United States.

  • Sandy Barker, President of Gold Rush Cure, has traveled to Washington DC over 35 times to advocate for children battling cancer.
  • Historically, federal agencies have neglected our young heroes, focusing instead on therapies for adults.
  • We're finally witnessing a shift in legislation and agency priorities to support children and teens battling cancer. However, there's still much more to be accomplished.
