Elvis – 8 Years Old
G RCF volunteers, Pauline and Tina, brought Elvis and his older brother, Sonny, all their gifts to their apartment. Elvis had been depressed and his mom said she knew this would help his spirits and it absolutely did! When we found out that pizza was his favorite, Tina picked up dinner for the whole family! Elvis just kept smiling and wanting to open every gift but after each gift – he would tell his brother to open his gifts too! He was so happy! He told Tina that he loves school and is really missing having to be in online school right now since he is still immunocompromised. The family has no computer so he had been doing schooling on his mom’s phone. Gold Rush Cure gifted Elvis an IPad, and he was over the moon with excitement that he could now school on the IPad. He made his mom start charging it right away! The boys also received matching Vans which they thought was very cool and Sonny got a new guitar. It was an incredibly special day!
Mom told us that the doctors kept telling her that he had the flu or another illness. Then her husband told her there were hospitals just for children and they should go there. She said she had never known there were children’s hospitals and that the day she brought him to CHOC they took him into surgery almost immediately. She is so thankful for CHOC and the Pot of Gold Program! Gold Rush Cure wants to reach as many children like Elvis as possible. Please help us keep up this fight.
