Wilson Middle School Students Bring Encouragement to Kids Battling Cancer

Gold Rush Cure
Maddie McAndrews and her family have delivered Pots of Gold around Dallas for years. In May 2026 they brought that to her school. Wilson Middle School students spent RamFest writing cards and decorating posters for kids fighting cancer and their siblings, all of it headed into upcoming deliveries.

Giving back can start at any age, and students at Wilson Middle School in Plano, Texas, are a wonderful example of just how meaningful a simple act of kindness can be.

In May 2026, Wilson Middle School helped coordinate a special volunteer event as part of their RamFest. Students came together to support Gold Rush Cure Foundation’s mission of bringing smiles and encouragement to children battling cancer and their siblings.

During the event, students wrote heartfelt cards for both childhood cancer heroes and their siblings. They also decorated colorful posters to be included in upcoming Pot of Gold deliveries, adding an extra personal touch to help each child feel celebrated, supported, and remembered.

The effort was driven by Wilson Middle School student Maddie McAndrews and her family. Over the past several years, the McAndrews family has participated in multiple Pot of Gold deliveries throughout the Dallas area, turning volunteering into a meaningful way for their family to give back to the childhood cancer community.

By bringing that experience to Maddie’s school, they gave even more young people the opportunity to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Gold Rush Cure Foundation continues to grow its reach nationwide, connecting volunteers and communities with families impacted by childhood cancer. At the heart of every Pot of Gold delivery is one simple goal: to bring smiles, encouragement, and moments of joy to children battling cancer and their siblings.

We are incredibly grateful to Maddie, the McAndrews family, Wilson Middle School, and every student who took the time to create something special for our childhood cancer heroes and their families. Together, small acts of kindness can make a BIG impact.
