5-year-old Avery had just returned home from an inpatient stay at CHOC, so it was a perfect time for a visit! He was doing a month-long treatment where he had to have a continuous IV that he carried in a backpack, so he couldn’t be very active for a bit, again, great timing for a little extra cheering up. When Avery saw our volunteer enter with all his gifts, he asked “Is it my birthday?” He and his big brother, Bryant, enjoyed opening all their gifts. Bryant was happy to get the last 3 Harry Potter books he wanted, and Avery was happy to receive his own tablet as well as some fun interactive play sets to make pizza, ice cream, coffee and grocery shop. The family was absolutely lovely, and we were able to bring them some much needed encouragment during their journey.
