When we met Diego, his brother Sebastian, and their mom for lunch at Lucille’s, Diego had absolutely no idea why he was there. His mom did an incredible job keeping the surprise, even recruiting Sebastian to secretly help complete the application on his brother’s behalf. When Diego learned why we were there and what was about to happen, he was completely surprised and understandably emotional. It was a moment none of us will forget. Diego and Sebastian were a joy to talk with—we had plenty to chat about! What stood out most, though, was Diego’s outlook. Despite everything he’s facing, he approaches his diagnosis and treatment with remarkable strength, taking each day as it comes and making the very best of it. Both Diego and Sebastian were genuinely grateful for every gift they received, and their excitement was contagious. Watching their reactions and sharing in such a meaningful surprise made this one of our most memorable deliveries.
